Spotlight on Ron Caruso

Ron retired from the Tangipahoa School Board in 2010 as its CFO-Chief Financial Officer. Prior to that he was Director of Business Affairs for the St. Tammany Parish School Board.

Ron has chosen to lead a fulfilling second half of his life as a stained glass artist, farmer, gardener, beekeeper, volunteer as Treasurer of both the STRSEA and St. Tammany Federal Credit Union, caregiver to his 93 year old mother and most importantly, by living in his Christian Faith.

His typical day includes seeing his wife Helen off to work each morning after spending time with her reading the newspaper over a cup of coffee. In maintaining a joyful life, he includes prayer, reading the Bible and meditation to begin each day.

At around 9 a.m. he gets his mother up, dresses her, sees that she eats her breakfast, gets in her exercises, and then they both sit down to view Mass and the rosary on TV.

After lunch together, Ron then attends to his gardening and farming duties (which include gathering eggs and feeding chickens) and his current stained glass project. He later fixes dinner and afterwards enjoys an ouside walk with Helen around the yard to enjoy their many flowers and plants. They wind down their day by watching the evening news with a nice glass of vino.

If you are planning a vacation, Ron would highly recommend visiting Hawaii, very beautiful and much to see.  His favorite movie in "Moonstruck" and he never turns down a piece of Lemon meringue pie.

A favorite saying that is always on his mind is "Be all that you can be." He lives up to this by using his many talents each and every day.
